Statement
My concentration focuses on the impact of societal pressure on individuals. My personal thoughts and experiences are shared throughout the canvases. Working with the judgment felt in my own life, there is a journey that transforms the feelings of a caged animal into sentiments of acceptance and beauty. My concentration spells out a message to reassure others that the process of the pain will eventually heal has you live. The pieces show a healing process that I have gone through. The first is the beginning: A story of fragile emotions. The journey shows the confinement and hurt I have felt until the piece Patience. I come to understand the effects over time, but how time is also the solution. The wounds will require patience and waiting to heal. Then the healing begins and my self-perspective changes. The last piece, Acceptance, is an embrace of my fragile feelings and the wounds that are left from them under the bandages. The strength I have gained along the journey is able to emerge as wings, in the final piece.
